Rolls-Royce Insight Day - Monday, 15 February
Wednesday, 9th of March
On Monday, 15 February we welcomed 32 Year 13 students into the Rolls-Royce offices in Derby, to explore a bit more about career opportunities on offer at the company through their 7 different Higher Apprenticeship schemes.
As well as a chance to get to know Rolls-Royce better, students spent the day refining their teamwork skills and interview techniques. They were also put through their paces and went through some of the psychometric testing they’ll encounter throughout many companies’ application processes.
There was an amazing energy in the room all day – in particular throughout the team challenges: students worked together to build the tallest tower they could out of marshmallows and spaghetti, as well as building a bridge to accommodate a tennis ball, from paper, card and plastic cups!
A lot of the students came in with some existing knowledge of the career pathways that apprenticeships can offer. One key part of the day for the Year 13s was hearing more directly from current trainees at Rolls-Royce: about the options open at Rolls-Royce, the commitment, learning and work, but also the apprenticeship community at Rolls-Royce, which can rival many university degrees!
