Design a capsule wardrobe (a limited collection of essential clothing items) that will inspire the next generation of shoppers and impact on the environment for the chance to win some incredible prizes.

Challenge details

Fashion is all about looking good and feeling great, it's about personal expression and brands. Spending an afternoon browsing the shops with friends and family brings many of us joy and satisfaction.

But are we buying too many clothes? Are our crammed wardrobes and exploding laundry baskets causing us stress? Does social-media make us feel pressured to never wear the same thing more than once? How can we positively change people's buying habits and encourage consumers to buy fewer items?

Could capsule wardrobes be the answer? A capsule wardrobe is a limited collection of essential itms that coordinate well and can be worn in a number of different ways to cater for multiple occasions. Investing in a capsule wardrobe means that you buy less and wear more which is good news for the planet and our wallets!

Your challenge is to design a capsule wardrobe of no more than 12 items. The collection should include clothes, accessories and seasonal staples for the unpredictable British weather. Your items can be for a male, female or unisex consumer. You should aim to source and create your items ethically to reduce harmful impacts on people and the environment.

When developing your collection, please tell us:

  • What items will be included in your capsule wardrobe?
  • How the items can be worn in different ways and for different occasions?
  • How your collection is suitable for all seasons?
  • What fabrics you'll be using and how you're going to ensure that you're selecting sustainable materials that are sourced ethically?
  • How you'll market the collection and convince more consumers to join the capsule fashion movement!

How To Enter

You can send us your submission in whatever format you like (for example as a word documet, PowerPoint presentation or even a short video) and feel free to include as many drawings or pictures as you like.

Be creative, think about the future of fashion and how your response could make a difference.

Good luck!
