Almost 50,000 women and 400 men get diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year. 5% of those diagnosed are already at stage 4. There is no stage 5. CoppaFeel! was set up by Kristin Hallenga in 2009. At 22 Kristin was told she was “too young to get breast cancer”. This meant that her cancer was diagnosed late and could only be treated, never cured. Kristin now lives with secondary breast cancer.
CoppaFeel!’s mission is to make sure all breast cancers are diagnosed at the earliest stage possible. Making treatments more effective and survival rates higher. The sooner we educate young people about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, the sooner they’ll be able to spot when something’s not right and be confident in seeking treatment. Early.
