About HSBC

Founded in 1865 to finance trade between Asia and the West, HSBC aims to be the world's leading international bank. With around 6,000 offices in 71 countries and territories, serving more than 47 million customers, their ambition is to be where the growth is, connecting customers to opportunities and enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper.

HSBC seeks forward-thinking, driven and perceptive students and graduates who are open to different ideas and cultures, who enjoy being part of a team and have the ambition to become future leaders.

HSBC recognises that the talent and diversity of its people are the foundation of its success. It hires, develops and promotes employees based on merit and provides an open, supportive and inclusive working environment. This is an organisation where everyone can be themselves and achieve their potential.

Our project with HSBC

We want to challenge your perceptions of a career in banking, so we’ve teamed up with HSBC to inspire you to think twice about whether working at the bank could be the right career for you.

On Thursday, 24 March, we're running an Insight Day at HSBC's London offices for female, year 13 students - applications to attend have now closed, but there are still other ways you can get involved:

Apply for Work Experience at HSBC
HSBC are running two great work experience opportunities: Aspiring Female Potential Programme and Inspiring Potential Insight Day. See below for more information on each, and follow these links to apply directly to HSBC for the Aspiring Female Potential Programme and Inspiring Potential Insight Day

The application process is a cover letter and CV; we've picked the brains of the team at HSBC who will be reviewing these applications, to give you the inside track on what they are looking for in an application. So before applying, take a look at our blog to hear their top tips for cover letters and CVs.

Using our teacher resources
We’ve created some helpful teacher resources. These include a lesson plan to help you demystify a career in banking for your students. We’ve designed the resources with HSBC to support applications to their work experience programmes, giving you information on the company and tools to build a stand out cover letter.

Download the teacher resources here, and the supporting teaching notes here
