An exciting opportunity for Year 12 students to attend a Skills & Assessment Day with Allen & Overy (A&O) in London or Norwich. The assessment day will stretch and challenge students to demonstrate their team building, problem-solving and analysis skills. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a mock interview with HR professionals. A select number of students will be offered a place on the Smart Start Experience, the firm’s work experience programme.

Event details

Every year, Allen & Overy (A&O) provides a week’s worth of work experience for students from less advantaged backgrounds who perhaps hadn’t considered a career in law or business – or don’t know how to take the first steps on that career path.

With this is mind, A&O is offering places on a Skills & Assessment Day in London or Norwich, during which, students can expect to be stretched and challenged by activities that will test problem-solving, teamwork, analysis and evaluation skills. Students who successfully demonstrate initiative, good communication and dedication will be offered a place on the Smart Start Experience.

How? Teachers refer students for a place on a Skills & Assessment Day by the 14 December 2018 (see table below). Referred students will be sent a link to the online application, which closes on 8 February 2019

Then what? Applications will be shortlisted and successful students will be invited to a Skills & Assessment Day on either of the following dates: 27 & 28 March London & 2 April Norwich

Next? Students who are shortlisted from the Skills & Assessment Day will be invited to carry out work experience, w/c 8 July 2019 @ Allen & Overy

Who should I refer? A&O aims to give Y12 students with a low socioeconomic status, and those who are often over-looked for opportunities, the chance to develop their skills, grow their professional network and enhance their career opportunities.

Students must meet at least one of the following criteria to be considered:
