  • MyKindaFuture shortlisted for the Best Digital Initiative in the CIPD People Management Awards for their new digital pre-boarding platform, connectr

MyKindaFuture, a social enterprise working to give every young person equal power and opportunity, has been recognised as a leading emerging talent specialist, winning the Outstanding Supplier award in the 2017 AGR awards.

MyKindaFuture are talent specialists who bridge the gap between young people and the world of work. With over 25 years’ experience in youth engagement, face-to-face workshops, development, digital marketing, pre-boarding and recruitment, they provide companies of all sizes solutions to closing their skills gaps.

The AGR Awards recognises some of the best business practice within the young person attraction and recruitment space, and celebrates the impact and ambition of businesses in the UK.

The Outstanding Supplier award was entered with MyKindaFuture’s partner, Rolls-Royce.  Rolls-Royce sought to bring innovation to their Higher Apprentice recruitment activity, to engage, inform and inspire, as well as attract a broader and more diverse range of young people. In addition to driving awareness of the programmes, they wanted to improve the conversion rates through the recruitment process.

To do this MyKindaFutrue designed a programme to target and engage more of the ‘right’ talent, but also to help the young people participating to really get to know the Rolls-Royce business and understand it for themselves, and the opportunities offered by a higher apprenticeship route.

  • Of 384 schools engaged, 128 Year 13 students (24% female) were identified and, of these, 67 passed the eligibility criteria.
  • 40 students were invited and, of those, 32 attended the workshop (34% female).
  • 19 students attended the finale event (42% female), along with 29 parents.
  • 18 students went onto assessment days, 11 were offered jobs, of which all accepted and started with Rolls-Royce (6 are female).
  • 100% of the students felt more confident about now pursuing a Higher Apprenticeship pathway.

Lindsay Cotton – Early Careers Recruitment Consultant, Rolls-Royce said:

“MyKindaFuture have been a fantastic emerging talent partner for Rolls-Royce. They have helped us effectively identify and attract young people into our business for our apprenticeship programmes and have done so in an extremely engaging and innovative way – bringing our business to life for this pool of future talent.

We believe the benefits elicited from the programme have been multi-faceted. Although the overall objective was to recruit talent into our apprenticeship programme, participants were still able to benefit from invaluable employability training at these sessions and the opportunity to understand their own strengths and the skills required to succeed in business and engineering.’

William Akerman, Founder and MD, MyKindaFuture, added:

‘We are incredibly proud of our team and the impact we are all achieving together. Thank you to our friends, partners and supporters. This award is recognition for how far we've come in giving every young person equal power and opportunity to shape their future, which we will continue to strive towards.

Gary Browning, Board Advisor, MyKindaFuture commented; “I am hugely proud to be a part of MyKindaFuture’s current growth. This award is a well-deserved win for the team at MyKindaFuture, but also the thousands of young people they are creating opportunities for. Also, having recently worked with them on their new digital learning and communication tool, Connectr, which has been recently recognised by being shortlisted for this years CIPD innovation awards, I know this year is going to continue to be a great success for them

As well as being recognised by the AGR for their work in supporting business across the UK in attracting and recruiting talent, MyKindaFuture has also been shortlisted for the Best Digital Initiative in the CIPD People Management Awards for their recently launched cloud-based communications and learning platform, connectr, which fosters meaningful relationships between employers and young people, as well as curbing the dropout rate of new starters.
