Today is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.

The Technology industry has long been guilty of unconscious bias towards women, making it more difficult for their voices to be heard in an overly masculine environment. Only 17% of employees in the UK tech sector are women. However, just because there aren’t that many women in tech, doesn’t mean that they aren’t making a massive impact!

Tata Consultancy Services has teamed up with MyKindaFuture to launch ‘#STEMPOWERED’, a Twitter series focused on championing the extraordinary work of women in the world of tech. ‘#STEMPOWERED’ will involve daily posts showcasing the works of incredible female tech pioneers.

Celebrating the work of inspirational female tech leaders is one thing, but is it enough to just promote their achievements? Wouldn’t it be better to help inspire the next generation of young women techies to follow in their footsteps? This is where YOU come in!

We have created an online platform called Digital Explorers. It is a website for young women between the ages of 13 and 18, and contains quizzes, games, videos and challenges all focused on the world of tech. You can learn to code in one module and find out which tech career path is perfect for you in the other.

The UK tech industry is in desperate need of young, talented women so join the Digital Explorers platform, tell a friend, tell a family member, tell just about anyone who will listen and get them to join Digital Explorers!

Keep an eye out for our ‘#STEMPOWERED’ on Twitter, who knows, you may well be on that list one day.
