“I believe the employability boot camp to be a huge success, many students were shy to begin with (who wouldn’t be!) but as the day progressed everyone began to come out of their shells and made the most out of the opportunity. The coaches were amazing, happy and bubbly bringing out the best in everyone without adding any pressure. This allowed everyone to really enjoy themselves and want to get stuck into all the activities.
There were various topics covered from building your CV, interview skills and presentation skills which was a benefit to all including myself. I altered my CV the same evening. This experience surely boosted confidence levels and gave a clear understanding of what is expected of them by an employer, which will definitely enhance their employability prospects.
In my opinion there are three ways into a company, whether you want an internship, work experience or a job. You either have a contact within the business; find one using social media or you could go the formal route by completing applications. I took the direct approach using the network I had built from my Yr10 work experience which landed my Internship here at BT. It’s not as easy as it sounds, I still had an interview and needed the grades and the ambition to get in. It’s important to always be yourself, work hard and do something you love!”
