Hello everyone, I’m Oli Monks one of the MyKindaCrowd Ambassadors!
Let me get straight into a bit of a disclaimer, this will be the first of many blogs that has the odd cheesy quote or Dad-like punnery thrown into it. If you can tolerate that then I think we’ll get on very well
I’m currently on a 12-month placement with Unilever and working in their Joint Venture, the Pepsi Lipton Partnership which is responsible for Lipton Ice Tea around the world, so if you love Lipton then let me know.
Because you’re reading this I’m guessing you are already engaged with MyKindaCrowd and are getting yourself involved in the brilliant range of challenges that they have to offer. In that case, you’re already being proactive and already will be doing a lot of things right.
So I wanted to write a bit about some of the key lessons and tips that I’ve picked up on employment and defining your career path. First, let me ask you one question:
- What would you dare to accomplish if you knew the only possible outcome was success?
You don’t have to know the answer straight away. It’s a big question but I’d say you’ve had something come to your mind already - Just keep it there for now.
The biggest lesson I’ve learnt when talking about employment, about your personal brand or in interviews is to be completely honest. Be honest about what you actually want to do and follow it. It’s important to learn and discover all the possibilities that are out there just as long as you aren’t doing things for the sake of an addition to your CV, or just to look busy.
I know firsthand how easy it can be to keep comparing yourself to others or to follow others ambitions. If I can help save you any time – AVOID IT.
Create your own path, take on challenges which you feel excited about and talk to companies that you feel passionate about joining.
Best of luck!
