Tesco Winners Day!

The MyKindaCrowd Tesco challenge was a great success. We had over 220 submissions and 10 students were invited to the winners day. The final involved marshmallow towers, presentations and feedback from Tesco managers!

The challenge which asked students to think of a way that Tesco can give back, encouraged young people to think about help in the local community, and how a little bit of help can go a long, long way.

The range of submissions was fantastic. They included vegetable patches on the roofs of Tesco shops, to raising awareness about cholesterol in foods and tackling Global Warming. After filtering through over 200 submissions we managed to pick 10 entries, which were strong and individual.

These 10 students were invited to a workshop and finalists day where a MyKindaCrowd workshop leader (James Merry) started with the ultimate icebreaker:

                                Marshmallow tower, of course!

We then ran an in-depth session on presentation skills. After this, each student had the chance to get feedback on their techniques finishing off the day with individual presentations from the students, to Tesco employees.

Discussions about what life is like working at Tesco.

After much deliberation between the judges, two strong students were selected as winners. Both Maddy Burrows and Sarah McCulloch received the prize, which was two weeks work experience at the Tesco headquarters, plus restaurant vouchers. The other runners up also got a £10 voucher.

It was a great day for everyone involved and we would like to thank everyone that entered the great challenge!

Throughout the day we made a short film to capture what the Tesco employee’s and finalists thought of the day. Watch it here.
