Three's Innovative Learning Programme
Three UK’s Reimagined Learning – an innovative training programme which sets out to inspire the next generation to consider careers in the mobile industry.
Created in partnership with MyKindaFuture, a social enterprise focused on connecting young people to the world of work, the programme centres on interactive workshops for school students, which are run by a mixture of Three employees and university students.
They are designed to allow students that partake to gain insight into what it is like to work in telecoms, providing them with the opportunity to develop their skills, network and improve their understanding of the industry in a fun and challenging way.
It is also a chance for them to hear about a variety of roles that they wouldn’t necessarily associate with the business or even realise existed, potentially helping them discover a future career they’ll be motivated to pursue.
150 employees from Three have participated in the activity since the programme launched in 2015, engaging with over 200 university students from 29 universities. Workshops meanwhile have been delivered to 697 GCSE students.
The workshops are proving to be a major hit. Research has found that 98% of GCSE students that took part reported a better understanding of the telecoms industry, with 52% saying they would consider a telecoms career following the lessons.
Divya Jeyabalan, a university student who took part in the programme, commented: “Reimagined Learning taught me to never just stick to the status quo and to always explore new opportunities. Not only has it built my confidence, it has also opened my eyes to the possibility of a telecoms career.”

There are a number of success stories to have come out of the programme since it launched. One such example is Oli Monks, a participant in the 2015 Reimagined Learning pilot programme. Since then Oli has launched a business called ‘BagSee’ created pre-packed bags for travellers and festival goers, including a partnership with Camp America that includes specific bags for their counsellors. https://bagsee.co.uk/pages/the-bagsee-team.
