Attracting a diverse talent pool
Keen to attract a more diverse pool of talent to their graduate programme, our partners KPMG came to us for help.
Working closely with them, we created a series of events – including an Application Bootcamp session at Heriot Watt University, in partnership with our Bright Futures Society there.
Through their on-campus presence, Heriot Watt Bright Futures were able to connect with the student population and encourage undergraduates from a range of backgrounds to take part.
At the event, students networked with KPMG employees, learnt about the firm’s recruitment process and received tips on how to approach their applications – all vital experience for entering the world of work.
The workshop was such a success that it earnt Heriot Watt Bright Futures a nomination for our 2018 Event of the Year Award.
- 41 students attended
- 49% identified as female (compared with 42% of the overall university population)
- 20% came from BAME backgrounds (against 10% of the university population)
“I got a better feel for the company. They eased my worries about the process and also made me feel like the company want the best candidate for the job, not just somebody who ticks the boxes.” – Application Bootcamp attendee
